This pattern contains instructions for three confections -- sweet little bags that are perfect for day trips, fun stops at the downtown mall, or strolls through a new city. The bags are fun, flirty, easy to make and finish, but big enough to hold the essentials: keys, wallet (within reason, you know), lipstick, and (for me) dark chocolate. I have left these little bags unembellished, but that certainly shouldn't stop you from adorning them with the Noni flower of your choice. My picks? Tiny camellias or forget-me-nots.

The Tulip Tote is modeled after my most favorite of toting-things-around-anywhere bags. It is roomy enough to pack with a lot of groceries, a picnic, or to fill with delicacies from your favorite dress shop... Or use it even as a day trip/travel bag. Oh, and don't be surprised when people stare -- believe me, they will! The handles are knitted as part of the bag and are long enough to go over your shoulder, but not so long that you can't carry the bag by your side. It is embellished with tulips, as many or as few as you would like. Now the Tulip Tote is my new favorite toting bag and I hope it will be your new favorite too.

For kids or the kid in you, these whimsical backpacks let you keep it plain and simple or go crazy with I-cords. Spiney Beast lets you become a bright blue monster with fantastical spines down your back. Grassy Hill covers you with grass and flowers. These bags are knit in one piece with flap embellishments and I-cord closures and strap tabs added before felting. Winter interest they call it when you plant shrubs in the garden that yield up beautiful orange, red, or white berries in fall. This bag offers winter interest all right! Covered with brilliant crimson or shimmering white berries, this unstructured bag in two sizes and colorways is a glorious statement you will love creating and admiring once it is finished. This bag is knit in one piece. A zipper closes the bag and a separate strap is attached after felting using purchased hardware. I-cord branches and bobble berries are arranged and sewn on by hand. The addition of Tilli Tomas' hand-beaded yarns lends this bag an even more luxurious feel and makes the winter berries branches appear as if they are glittering with ice that looks white in the bright light of morning or red in the fading light of a winter sunset.

I was inspired to make this flower when Dorret Conway (www.knitknack.co.uk) contacted me from England with a request. She wanted to wear flowers I designed on a decorated bra in a special walk called the Moon Walk, a breast cancer research fundraising walk organized by WalktheWalk (www.walkthewalk.org), and she wanted to publish the pattern for free on the internet. I decided to do one better: design a special flower and then donate all my pattern sales profits to breast cancer research through the WalktheWalk organization and the Susan G. Komen foundation in the USA (www.komen.org). My hope is that women all over the US and Europe will wear the Noni Forget-Me-Not at breast cancer fundraising events, decorating bras, t-shirts, sneakers, and flip flops, knowing that every pattern purchase will help the fight.

This pattern was inspired by the beautiful display of cherry blossoms that Spring brings to the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. In particular, the spectacular Japanese cherry blossom trees donated by the city of Tokyo in 1912 that bloom in and around Washington, D.C. Now, these lovely, delicate and beautifully simple flowers can adorn anything you like, from your handbag, to gift packages, to sweater necklines, to your favorite Summer sandals. Pattern Difficulty Level: Beginner to Advanced. This pattern requires knowledge of knitting and purling and short rows.

This is a delicate, beautiful, flower that will make any bag, gift box, sweater, or jacket more lovely with its presence. Fuchsias are complex, layered flowers that come in a seemingly endless array of color combinations. While this pattern offers only two colorways (both of which can be found in nature), you will likely begin to think of more possibilities as soon as you start to knit. Made with a single strand of worsted weight yarn, this flower is delicate once felted. Choose to make only a single flower on a single stem, or multiple flowers on one stem. Pattern Difficulty Level: Intrepid beginner/Intermediate-Advanced. These flowers can be accomplished by anyone who knows how to knit and purl. However, they do require use of small holders, double-pointed needles, and short rows.

Adorn anything, anything at all, with a field of cheerful pansies. These lively flowers will brighten up sweaters, jackets, winter coats, bags, or the table when you knit them in clusters. Worked on double pointed needles, they are knit in pieces and assembled before felting.

Spring weather brings with it the curved stalks and delicately cupped flowers of the tulip in more color combinations than can easily be counted. This pattern allows you to bring tulips into your repertoire of knitted and felted flowers. Included are instructions for two-color (intarsia) tulips on their long, curved stems in two styles, those with rounded tips and those with pointy tips. Knitters wishing to make solid colored tulips may certainly do so.

These large or delicate trumpet flowers look as though at any minute the hummingbirds will come hover for a taste. This pattern gives step-by-step instructions for creating six different sized trumpet flowers and the vines they grow on. Twine these beauties around the top of any bag or around the I-cord handles. Wrap gifts in vines with flowers as finishing touches. This is a must-have pattern for anyone who loves flowers.

Another one of Noni's most popular patterns, the unfurling rose is the most sculptural Noni flower. It can be as audacious as the camellia, or as subtle as the jasmine flower. It can appear a rose just unfurled, or one that hides nothing. Put one toward one end of your sassy tube baguette. Put two on the smallish carpet bag. Put them all around the top of your lattice bag. Put them together with all the other flowers in a wreath or on a Noni backpack. The possibilities are as endless as the rose's beauty is boundless.
